Zags drop hoops as varsity sport--Safety First!

See the lead photo of Austin and Sabonis. Upon seeing the photo, Mark Few said, “Austin is a thug. He tried to strangle my power forward! Basketball is way too dangerous. This game was too competitive. To protect this and future power forwards, I hereby cancel our season. In fact, to fully protect my team, I have decided to drop basketball as a varsity sport.” Again, see photo:

Nice…What they should be showing is Austin using his nose to bust Sabonis in the arm. Those dirty Cougs.

Why does Wiltjer get away with using that off arm all nigh long. Luckily, Wiltjer had had a bad free throw night.

Wiltjer is a marquee player in college, that is why. Also, if they don’t have him out there tonight they lose by 20. I had seen Gonzaga play several times this year and I knew they weren’t much this year. When they lost the big man, that made it even more obvious how bad they were.

I figured Wiltjer would win the game at the free throw line but for some unkown reason Gonzaga didn’t go to him in the last few minutes. It was strange… the guy has a career scoring night and doesn’t get used, of course until he tried that shot at the end to win it and Austin says “not tonight hot shot” and sends it away… that was a career highlight for an average player who works his tail off. Good for Nate Austin !

Austin’s best game in 5 years.

My take on Wiltjer was they tried to get him free with picks but BYU locked down. Still laughing when I see Sabonis talking to himself, " I am lottery pick, they (refs) are wrong"

More karma, Utah is on a big losing streak.

Just curious is the Sabonis kid related to the guy that use to play for Portland Trailblazers?

Yes, Domantas is Arvydas’s son. As a Blazer fan we all waited years owning the rights to the legendary big Lithuanian (drafted in 1986, finally playing for Portland 9 years later in 1995) who could pass like Magic Johnson, swat shots like Wilt Chamberlain, drained 3s and shot 80% from the FT line. Arvydas couldn’t shake soviet control and come to Portland until he was 31 years old in 1995. It is hard to imagine how good he could have been with a full NBA career–7’3", strong enough to overpower Shaq at his peak( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18tnToDLHV4 ), a gifted shooter who was equally lethal with his back to the basket or facing up (Arvydas was David Robinson in his prime), and EASILY the BEST post passer I have ever seen in my life. He was a magician with the ball. Chronic achilles injuries limited his NBA career but we saw glimpses of what might have been.

About a year ago I saw a great documentary that caught up with his life. He is a devoted husband and father; he and his wife own a resort hotel in Spain and also spend a lot of time in Lithuania supporting youth basketball programs. If the son (Domantas) is half the man his father has been, I will ALWAYS root for that kid.

What a hoops night–BYU beats Zags at the buzzer, and the Ducks–who have struggled off and on this year similar to BYU-- blow out Pukes. Awesome.

I don’t know if the Ducks have “struggled” so much with only 3 losses. Interesting that one of those was to UNLV, who fired Rice… I don’t know what people expect sometimes.

Anyhow, it is interesting that Krystowhack and his comments have kind of been a distraction and now his team is suffering. They are not nearly as good as they were a month ago.

Makes me wonder if Utah will learn anything from this whole incident… other than the need to be safe…

Most people in the basketball world would agree that Rice should have never been fired. He will land on his feet and all for the better away from sin city.

It is amazing to me how much kystowhack killed the love for Utah basketball.

Fixed it for you…
