BYU vs. Gonzaga... a very winnable game, but once again who knows?

Those other players like Bergerson would never be ready yet. Same with Dastrup. Like I mentioned, this really his freshman year. Last year was a waste of time as he didn’t lose the weight and develop. Emery left and that hurt us.

I know what you say about different personalities. But, Jackson still had basic rules with Rodman too. He didn’t take many shots. Only layups and free throws. His communication was different but even Jordan didn’t get to do anything he wanted to do. Jackson got in his face several times because Jordan knew Jackson could make him better. And he could take it. And coaching college is different.

You don’t understand. I know they’re not ready to be a part of a 20 win team. I don’t care if they win 20 this year. I just want them to develop. You’re shooting at a different goal. All I want is development. It’ll hurt in the short run but it’s a long term strategy. I’d rather be at 19 wins with a well rounded and more seasoned team. The price to pay for that is watching Bergerson play good defense then forget to box out.

Certainly not saying to let them have free reign, just individualized handling. Handle Dastrup, Eli, Luke, and hardnet differently to get the most out of them. Some guys need to be yelled at, others can’t handle that. Some guys can’t progress if they get benched too much (looking at you TJ Haws) and I think Dastrup is one of them. Yo does well when he get’s benched because it doesn’t mess with his confidence and he just needs to see the court and get a bit of coaching and he’s good, no damage done. Eli can shoot himself out of a slump, TJ has to change tactics. Bergerson does very well when he’s given a simple assignment but he still get’s lost and messes with spacing.

Not when it comes to treating players as individuals. It’s even more important in college because they are more fragile.

Keep trying Tyler, you will never succeed. It doesn’t matter what you write, the grasshopper will ALWAYS disagree with it. It is a hallmark of his and something that I have never understood.

I have actually agreed with him on many occasions and even said I agree occasionally even when I don’t, just to see how he would respond. To date he has never agreed with anything I write. It has become a scripted game at this point, one that I am tired of.

I did like your post, it is insightful and I completely understand what you are saying. I agree with it wholeheartedly. I tried to use the example of Hachimura for Gonzaga and how at the beginning of the season he was raw and made a lot of mistakes, but Few worked with him and coached him and built his confidence. Now he has a force to be reckoned with and Gonzaga is ready for the ncaa tournament once again. BYU doesn’t look ready for the wcc tourney, let alone the NIT… and there is certainly no ncaa bid this year, again.

So, what happens if Dastrup and Bergerson played a bunce and we ended up 15-16 and no NIT. Then Dastrup transfers anyway. The coach any coach doesn’t play to lose. The others weren’t ready.

You coach different and treat players different at different ages and levels.

I’ve agreed with you a lot. What are you talking about?

I hit the NBA coach up…he got us in for BYU’s practice on Wednesday. Rose holds closed practices so this is a big deal

players shouldn’t play who screw off is valid. We don’t see practice so we don’t know. Maybe Rose is right, maybe not.
Guess we’ll find out

Prove it. Go back and look at your posts. I can’t remember you ever agreeing with anything I have written. It doesn’t matter to me whether you do or not. I was just making a point… that it seems like you are more interested in opposing what I write than having a real position or opinion that is validated by observation or experience.

For example, everyone on cougarfan could be standing there watching a white horse run by and we would all say “that was a white horse” and you would say “no, it was a black horse” or “no, it was a burro” when that isn’t what was there at all.

1 When they do speak, their comments tend to be critical and judgmental, focusing on their own conceited views.
2 narcissists tend to focus on only what they selfishly want and find agreeable. All else might be labeled as “boring” or “stupid”.
3 oblivious to, or dismissive of others’ thoughts and feelings.
6 “I’m so unique no one understands me,” and “I’m so smart I’m above everyone else.”

Okay, so go back and prove that you have ever agreed with me without a “but” moment. We both to seem to fit the narcissistic 7 point theme. When someone writes something you agree with you make a point of that. But that’s rare and mostly you “but” the person and write your daily conspiracy theory

Not at all. I agree with many different points of view, including yours on occasion. I think most of the posters here will back me up on that one. I also try to be reasonable and when I have posted something that is hurtful or offensive to someone else I have apologized for it. I care what others think and it matters to me, including you.

I can’t help it if I see things differently than you do and some of the things I see lead me to believe there are people and forces that are at work trying to accomplish unrighteous things. I know that this kind of stuff happens, not only because it is exposed frequently, but because the adversary is working as hard as he can to destroy all that is good. I don’t mean to sound preachy, but it’s true. If I am not presenting it in a way that is acceptable to you then I am sorry, but (yes I use the word) it is a regular occurrence and aspect of any and everything where lots of money is involved. Call it a conspiracy if you like, I don’t care. I understand that you have a very specific set of terms and proofs you need to admit it exists. I don’t need those things to know it exists.

The sports seasons are fading quickly, once again BYU is having a very lackluster year. I see things that I believe would have changed their course for the better. If I want to express opinions and give very good examples of those things, I will do it.

The way Dastrup was handled this season, in my opinion, was a huge mistake and very calculated on the part of coach Rose. Unfortunately, this is nothing new. Something is not right with him, he is aloof and disengaged. The team needs a coach who is passionate and a great teacher. I think Rose has done a good job but his ability to maximize the talent of his entire team is severely lacking.

Why is it not okay to say that? It doesn’t change the fact that he is probably a really good guy in many different aspects of his life but he mishandles a lot of his players. He says the right things about Dastrup but his actions speak differently. You are the only one that won’t even consider the possibility that Rose is in a slump…

Narcissists do not apologize. To them it shows weakness. you are off the hook, Jim. Maybe a little pessimistic but then you live in Cali…

It is interesting that Scott would acknowledge his Narcissism. Usually one can’t self diagnose unless they have had a fair amount of therapy. A BIG reason why I don’t reply to his posts is that you are always left “wanting”.

Speaking of Rose, I watched the Rose show with Greg Wrubell last night. Rose was funny, witty and someone that would enjoy being around. I head over to practice at 2 today. I will be watching to see 2 things. How are he coaches and how Dastrup interacts with Rose and the team.

Wow! That should be great! Try to be objective without prejudice as you watch.
From watching this show and BYUSN the players and coaches have all said this is a unique bunch that really enjoys playing together.

You forgot. A long time ago we both acknowledged that we use the different characters to let each other know we aren’t personally attacking each other.
While there is money involved, I believe that there are people that view their success as a blessing and it causes them to serve others and work harder. I’m not blind either to those who gain money and don’t. I’m just not an automatic suspicios person. I look for the good in people first. Is that a character flaw?

I look for the good in people first. Is that a character flaw?

No, this is a good trait. But what I’d like you to do is acknowledge that there is some bias in officiating in college basketball. It’s multi-million dollar entertainment with some rich and maybe corrupt people leading the efforts…just like the NFL and NBA.

When it comes to theories whether it’s the Big Bang or college basketball conspiracy theories, show me the proof. Observations with a beginning point of seeking a conspiracy isn’t proof. It’s bias conjecture.

So Fish, are you going to keep us in the dark? What did you see happen at practice today?

It has been all over the news this past week. Even when it is out in the open, you don’t see it.

Just more rumors.

rumor what? FBI wiretaps and lots of “evidence”. I just saw how much some of the top D-1 basketball coaches make in salary and it is sickening. The basketball players don’t get a thing but coaches are making high 7 figure money. There is corruption and conspiracy all over the place.

So, there is corruption and conspiracy because coaches make a lot of money. I see. And that doesn’t fit capitalism? Or it doesn’t fit socialism and that is why it’s corrupt and a conspiracy. I see…

So, there is an FBI wiretap on basketball coaches and that’s okay. But on President Trump it’s collusion with the Russians and a treasonist offense. I’m just trying figure out who the conspirators and the corrupt are. It’s impossible to trust the FBI anymore with the Trump-Mueller-Clinton-Florida shooting things.
