BYU vs Utah in Vegas

Ron, can I remmind you that the game with Alabama was the worst Alabama team in 20 years. If that game would have happened a year later, Alabama would have killed them.

SG: The Bronco going to U. Va. was announced by a U. Va. blogger board.

Jim Hawks,

What really hurts is that Utah and BYU have for the most part, and with few exceptions, been two teams that have been so equal that nobody would know the outcome of a game, until the final 3 minutes or 3 seconds of the game.

Something happened !!! Not good for BYU but very good for Utah. They pulled away from us.

Was it the spark given to Utah by Urban Myers? Probably. Was it that Whittingham was a better coach than BM?
Probably.

Was it because the Utah coaches don’t offend other coaches in power 5 conferences as much as BYU coaches have done in the past 11 years.? Probably.

Was it because Utah, full of Mormons, but much more diverse than BYU , wasn’t so much (In your face) with religion as BYU? Probably, with one school being state funded while the other school was being Church funded.

Could it be that while Utah, by P5 conference standards, are still considered Conservative, but by BYU standards, Utah is considered to be a school of bleeding heart liberals? Probably.

Could it be that the reasons that Utah gets along better with P5 conferences is that they ARE IN DEED, EASIER TO GET ALONG WITH THOSE THAT ARE NOT OF THEIR FAITH, than BYU is able to do? Probably.

Is Utah considered a better research school by P5 conference standards than BYU? Probably?
Could it be that Utah stays out of outside state politics and BYU does not? Probably.

Take all the things mentioned above away, and we still have the fact that Utah won 3 BCS bowls during the same time that we could not get invited to a BCS bowl. Both Utah and TCU, both our peers in the MWC, got invited and they, each of them did excel and each of them did find themselves ranked teams playing at least 9 P5 teams per season, and at the same time, no P5 conference wants us and we could not finish a season as a ranked team.

So, Is everyone picking on us? Probably not. Is it our religion that they, P5 conferences, don’t like? Probably not. Than what is it. If we know what we must do to change, are we willing to make the necessary changes? Probably not.
Why not? Probably because we still feel that we have all the right answers and those that do not agree with us are wrong and we are not willing to give us what we KNOW to be right to satisfy those that we KNOW are not as good as us.

Could this be the problem? What do you think?
