The Lakers were up by 36 against the Suns Wednesday. But the Suns came roaring back as the Lakers went into cruise control and the Suns almost came all the way back. Lakers won but it shows that the game is played by human beings. And not by systems. That’s why the game is played even though one system is far better than another. It’s really about the mental aspect to the game. Can BYU continue to shoot well in the small gyms will be a huge question? Can BYU play with intensity at home as well? And do these things every game from here on out. Haws wife is having a baby in 3 weeks. Will he be focused?
Source? I wonder why this was brought up AT ALL. This should have been private. TJ better focus every game including during practice time with his basketball team.
I didn’t know that the Lakers and Suns are part of ncaa men’s div1 league? ![]()
I saw that score at half time and I thought it was a typo error (not really). I knew Zags would destroy them 2nd half.
Well I wasn’t sure-Gonzaga was getting out-played and Tillie missed his first couple of shots and didn’t shoot anymore the first half so I figured maybe an upset, but I see Tillie had 22 in the 2nd half
TJ was on BYU Sports Nation and was asked about it. Why should it be private if he’s announced it? And who doesn’t announce something like this?
I was using the Lakers as an example of how teams get put to sleep and that the players are only human. Did you have a bad day or something? Chill out. You sound like a Democrat
here is the most informative piece I have ever read about the WCC
Thanks-very enlightening without me having to do the research
So, now we just have to play the games and win. Like tonight! Win the ones that are below us because they don’t belong in the same gym as us. Let’s hope we can come out fast and end fast. And, stay healthy…
I know, nothing wrong about personal things about marriage and kids stuff. I just hope that TJ and all student athletes will be more focus of what they are doing during games - that’s is all. Yes, if he was asked by media, then I am fine about that.
Just win it all, BYU has no business losing to bottom feeders and including smc. Win against Zags would be really nice.
SMC is a bottom feeder? We just have to start strong. All our teams seem to start slow often times.
Two upset specials. SF vs Portland and SMC vs Pacific. We will see how SMC handles the injury bug
Good predictions but not like what Pacific did beating smc in 4 OT - nice.
A little surprised both of them came through, but it’s great for BYU. The success this year and most always is quality road wins. Having watched Gonzaga and BYU every game it’s evident what their strengths and weaknesses are. Gonzaga is definitely an offensive powerhouse, but an average defensive unit. They can be exploited by good ball movement and driving to the basket. BYU, of course can be and will be exploited inside-they just don’t match up with Gonzaga’s size, which means they will have to shoot better than they have been from distance which could be a problem as they probably won’t double and triple Child’s as other teams have done
This is a very bad loss not just for SMC but for BYU. When the big 3 lose, it affects BYU in their chances for an at large big…BTW, USU got hammered at home by SDSU. ( I sure would like a do over against SDSU with Childs just to see where we really do stand)
BYU will live and die by the 3, teams that play us are betting on it by double teaming Childs as LMU did all night. I could see us having an off night shooting a lose just like SMC did with Pacific.
At the end of the day, BYU is not a one horse pony, We have won when Haws or Toolson have off nights but not won when Childs has one (the Utah game and cramps).
Yeh can’t happen and expect to win against Gonzaga. Right now there are players for BYU that have to step up their game-Seljaas(offensive)-Harding (offensive) and Nixon. They are all playing hard-but missing wide open shots. Barcello is struggling a bit, but like Haws does a lot of things well. Lee is lost and needs to be more aggressive, and I’m assuming his knee is ok. I can see Haws and Toolson having big games against the Zags. Child’s will be a mystery until the game. I expect Gonzaga to play man and not double Child’s and see how it works. At 6’8” we will see how he does against 7 footers. Interesting to surmise but you gotta play the game
The turnovers are as important as having a good shooting game. There were some ugly turnovers like soft passes from Childs and the falling down by Nixon. Can’t have those.
BYU took a big dance hit with the dislocated finger of Childs. Throws the season into a big ? mark. The SMC loss was no big deal and the GU game will be no big deal but to play Pacific and San Fran on the road without Childs now looks iffy. Timeline for Childs is I don’t want him to rush it an reinjure. ESPN’s Lunardi was at the game and said all three (Gon, SMC and BYU) were solidly in so not losing to bottom feeders is the key to Dancing.
The finger was an open wound, stitches, so it was pretty bad but the finger will not need surgery or pins. Source said 1-2 weeks.
Without Childs, and headed into the toughest 3 games of the entire season, @ Gonzaga, @Pacific, @ San Fran.
We can beat Pacific without Childs but San Fran has too much length and on the road. Loss, Win Loss then we get back home and maybe Childs can heal up enough to return the favor against SMC.
