I think Zelensky was used to dealing with mentally compromised patsy Biden, who give him billions of dollars with no plan to end the war. With Biden Ukraine had an open checkbook with no conditions. Ukraine canât win and if they arenât willing to make some concessions the war will only end with their country in total ruin and possibly leading to WW 3.
The only way Ukraine wins is with heavy lifting from the west and ever increasing involvement from the west. That would be bad because the conflict would escalate out of control.
The fact is the Donbas region is Russian in every way except it us part of Ukraine. The people in Donbas want to be part of Russia. The same could be said about much of Crimea.
I canât even begin to express my contempt for the Democrat party. They hate the America our generation grew up in and they were ecstatic when Obama said he would transform America. He and his stooge Biden nearly destroyed that America and now Trump is trying to fix the damage and the only way to do it is to try to destroy the structure they built and build it back.

I think there is a lot of information about Ukraine that both political parties are not telling us. I find it interesting that Trump is all twitterpated over the Ukraine President, because he wants some assurances.
But yet Trump canât praise for one of the most evil men in the world enough, Putin.

I am certain you meant the war could have ended sooner if Biden and the EU had not hamstrung the Ukrainians by saying if you use our weapons across the border in Russia, (you know the country that is attacking you), then we will not give you any more weapons.
And oh by the way, you know the skies over your country, you can shoot things down but only once they have crossed the border, and no we will not give you any airplanes to clear the skies.

I personally support neither. A peace needs to be brokered and Ukraine will have to make a few concessions and no that is not tantamount to supporting Putin. We have have poured billions into the conflict and nothing but more death and destruction to show for it. I suspect that if Europe and the US throw full support into Ukraine winning the war then other actors, possibly China, will join in. North Korea has already sent troops to support Russia. There has to be an off ramp for this short of all out war.

Another thing to consider is that Ukraineâs borders have changed repeatedly in recent history without any heartburn from the US and then Biden gets in office and all of a sudden Ukraine is some model democracy that has to be saved and Zelensky is supposed to be some kind of Winston Churchill figure. Zelensky is an ineffectual jacka$$ and I thought that several years ago long before his meeting with Trump and Vance. He may have been a good comedian but he is a joke of a leader. He isnât an evil dictator like Putin but he is nothing to be lionized.
I fully support Trumpâs position concerning Zelensky and I am not somebody who agrees with everything Trump does. I think he is getting way too aggressive on the tariff issue and tariffâs historically speaking have often backfired.

It kind of reminds me of Vietnam, we could have won that war, but Congress wanted to run it (you know how that turned out). Had two brothers that served during that time (1 blood, 1 adopted) and only one came home.
I believe Trump has the right approach in trying to broker a peace rather than dumping billions more into Ukraine with no benefit to us or the rest of the world for that matter. Get it over with before it blows up into something far worse.

Like I said above the Ukraine/Russia conflict is centuries old. Ukraine is not part of NATO and should not be admitted to NATO.
I Used to believe that we should back Ukraine because they stood up to Russia and who wants to be a part of a commie state? But I kept running into all the Ukranian corruption, meaning our money goes to Ukraine and only a portion is used. Whereâd all that coin go? The Ukraines have been as corrupt as Russia all along. Sure the people suffer but buying our way out of a war will never work.
As Reed points out, the Donbas region is pro Russian, do the deal, get USA involved mineral wise. Do not let Ukraine anywhere near NATO status, that is just a poke in the eye of Russia, who thinks that the West is stealing Russian territory. And get out of this money pit war that has no bearing on the US.
I think Trump is 3 steps ahead of everyone, always has been. He just needs to articulate how the Dems are mettling with the peace deal and how Zelenskyy has been dishonest throughout the process. 100% Trump is right to say, OK, you can go it alone with the EU, we will see how that works.
In the end. Europe will reconsider and come begging Trump to reengage. Zelenskyy will either do the about face and come crawling back understanding that the USA canât be played anymore
but there is no way that Trump will allow Europe or Ukraine to get their money grubbing hands on US money without concrete agreements going forward.
If we get the mineral deal, we will have boots in the Ukraine. Putin would then not be able to again attack the Ukraine.
If we poor more money and weapons, NK, China and others would join the fight. EU would then join the fight. At that point, we should sit back and watch Europe get seriously threatened. They would be crying for the U.S. for help.
