Everything I hear about young people is that they are very unlikely to die from the virus, however, they can carry the disease and have no symptoms and pass it on to others. Most of the people dying are older or have underlying health problems.
It is a very real disease and is dangerous and shouldn’t be dismissed but in my opinion the reaction to it, at least at this time, seems to be far more harmful than the disease itself. I think the problem with it is that it doesn’t work like the flu because people can have it for several weeks without any symptoms and pass it on to other people and it has the potential to mushroom with many people being infected.
One of the problems is the mass assaults on grocery stores, Costco, Wal-Mart, Sams etc cleaning the shelves of all manner of products over hyper inflated fear that has a psychological effect on others to copy the behavior. and spread the fear. Rumors are also a big problem. My brother in law told me a few days ago that his daughter was told by somebody else that there was a secret senate meeting where a few senators were told that 480,000 people in the US would die from this. This is nuts. My sister in law told my wife today that a doctor on NBC news said people should stockpile a 3 months supply of food. If somebody said that on national TV it is crazy. I can;'t find anything confirming that was said.

I understand where you are coming from but when the church suspends all activities I reconsider my thinking. That said I think the media is creating a lot of fear with some of the things that are getting spread around. Too many worst case scenarios are being headlined as if they are the fact rather than educated guesses. You never hear the best case scenario because it doesn’t grab headlines. Go on Drudge and read the headlines. It is the type of thing that stokes fear.
I’m much more concerned about other factors than getting covid19. People buying out stores is going on nationwide and food storage items are disappearing. Everyone dies so I just try and be smart and not get infected and if I am, don’t infect anyone else. Be a good person and do the best one can. Things are happening that are shedding light on how idiotic we have been in the US. China is not happy with us at the moment and it turns out that 95 percent of the medications used in this country are imported from China. How stupid is that! The country we are most likely to have a major confrontation with, supplies 95 percent of our medications on mostly our technologies. I appreciate your comments on the covid19 not being the flu and I think we need to get used to these type off diseases and get used to dealing with them so people don’t go ape crazy. Follow what our church leaders direct us to do and we will be fine, whether in this life or the next-no worries

I have read the prophecies on the end times in all the scriptures for years and some of what we are seeing is all there. Men’s hearts are failing them for fear, the whole world is in commotion, sickness covering the whole Earth.
Now it appears the government is sending national guard troops to selected cities in the US and Trump is allegedly going to declare a national emergency today at about 3 PM. I don’t know how much of this is warranted or if Trump is overreacting to all the criticism.
I think that Trump really had no choice in the matter, politically or socially. Failure to do anything would probably cost the Republican Party dearly in the next election and the Demo’s knew it. The market was up today last I checked, so we will see what the next 2 critical weeks will bring. Right now the only win in this situation is for covid19 to begin to abate
My wife said he gave a very good speech today with some concrete plans. I didn’t hear it but he held a briefing at 3 pm EDT. I was worried about how the timing of the speech might affect the markets but apparently they liked what he had to say because the market kept going up. Recently there have been a few days where they didn’t like what was said or news of virus death somewhere has caused investors to freak out. I took all my money out of stocks before it got too bad but still lost more than I cared to lose.
Since I plan to retire at the end of July I couldn’t afford to lose much and wait out the market to go back up. I thought about getting out when it was at 29000 but waited until it dropped to 25000. That was mistake.
And let’s refrain from the personal attacks. I see Scott being called a selfish twit, an idiot and that he’s not that smart. Hopper is a classy guy who has lively opinions on this board.
To me this is more than likely lame. I think it is a product of the Chinese Communist. The mass movement to stopping all sports comes from the liberal universities who are trying to make it a political issue.

Our reaction to it is embarrassing. People are giving up their liberty for safety. California’s Governor is forcefully asking senior citizens to stay inside. 335 people in California catch the virus, most of them with mild to no symptoms and now he wants to force businesses to shut their doors. Totalitarian behavior. He can ask but should not be able to force people out of business or control them like this. Communist!
It may be a silver lining in all of this. Losing our ability to manufacture, in my mind, leaves the US very open to downfall. Trump, the America 1st pres., is the first guy to address this and he has been talking about it for decades now.
Let’s get the government to help subsidize stay at home and manufacture back in the good ol USofA.
