I think the idea that the coaches are preparing those kids like Jackson for the NBA is bunk. The reason why those one and done kids are playing college for a year is because of the age requirement of 19. The one year does nothing for preparation.
Tell that to the NBA who pays them millions after their one and done year. If it didn’t matter to the player where they played that one year … then why do they consistently go to Duke, NC, and Kentucky? GU may be on that list pretty quickly. It is because these programs have excellent coaches!
Why didn’t Lebron, Kobe, Bynum and many, many others play one year of college? Simple! There was no age restriction of being 19. Today, there is.
You also aren’t being honest about those players who don’t go to the NBA right away. Those kids aren’t coaches only by their college coach. In the off-season they get coaching by other NBA players as well as other high profile one on one coaches. Summer leagues and NBA tryout stuff like Childs did. You put too much emphasis on the other coaches at Duke, Kentucky and Gonzaga…
