He hugged him from behind. And yes, you are a theory-technical personality and the only ones allowed to hug you is family. Anyone else and suspicion takes over the mind of an”T” in the STAR personality system.
“R” like to hug people they don’t know.
Personality tests are not very scientific, they are “a best guess” type test on that particular day.
According to Scientific American Organization:
"“You should be skeptical,” says Simine Vazire, a personality researcher at the University of California, Davis. “Until we test them scientifically, we can’t tell the difference between that and pseudoscience like astrology.”
psychologists say personality tests are not very accurate for a wide range of reasons. It is unreliable because a person’s type may change from day to day. It gives false information about the person overall, just what is going on at that particular time.
That is why I never really believed in these personality tests, they are not scientific by nature (based on conjecture) and depending on the day could be the complete opposite of what the person truly is.
I believe the only way you can really tell what type of person they are, is to watch them over a course of time.
For years and years, people believed I was “difficult” because I expressed my “honest” opinion. To a certain extent, I believed them until someone helped me realize that I was not difficult, I just don’t play the politics of human nature. I am as they called me “authentic”. What you see, is what you get type of thing.
After understanding that concept about myself, my life has become so much easier.
There are many types of these. The color ones I find hard to figure out. However, the STAR one is very simple and as I said, doesn’t try to be perfect. For instance, a “S” structured person is like Felix and an “A” action person is like Oscar in the Odd Couple. Very easy to identify. Same with Theory and Relationship polar opposites. I find very accurate and what their likes and dislikes are.
Also, I mentioned everyone has a secondary as well. So, like you, being structured and a relationship personality, you don’t buy into conspiracies but like to stick to the real rules. At the same time, will help people even if they have come into the country breaking the rules.
There are some who have split personalities like TRs and SAs. They struggle being bipolar. I was taking this personality class one weekend and there was a young woman who started crying when these four personalities were taught. She was a SA and finally for the first time understood what was going on with her in her head. She realized she was an okay person and from then on was able to deal with her challenge. From that point, I’ve stuck with this STAR system. I also said clearly that there are people with a bit of all of them at the same time and in certain circumstances. So, it’s not a hard fast program and can change over time and circumstances.
You used characters from an old TV show to justify and legitimize the STAR personality chart or whatever it is?
Well, I’m sold!
I agree with Floyd. The human spirit is so unique and differs from person to person with so many variables that there is no way to categorize or explain ANYONE in any way, shape or form. After all, that is the way Heavenly Father created us. Every one of us is unique, literally billions of unique personalities so trying to put those into 4 categories is nonsense. People only do that because they try to make sense of a world that can’t be made sense of.
Anyhow, at the very least it is interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Once again, I find it amusing that people in here are having so much difficulties reading. Like I wrote, people have a secondary as well. Like SR or ST. There are some with opposites in them like TR or SA. And, there are those with all 4 or 3 combinations.
You can see the primary personality in each of the 4 gospels.
And yes, it’s really as simple as that. See if you can figure out your students. It will help you reaching them better.
Thanks again!
You are welcome. I wish I had this along with Richard Boothman’s book “How to make people like you in 90 seconds or less.” You should get that one too.
Personality tests are not absolutely accurate123. The human mind and behavior are very complex, and personality traits only summarize broad patterns in them.
Therefore, Personality test such as STAR are a “possible trait” not an “absolute trait” as you seem to be posting. That is factual, Scott according to modern psychiatry experts.
I’ve said that in many ways. People do change or can change. The STAR system is for where people are today. It’s also doubtful is there have been any studies on the STAR system. Jim Hoyt, the founder of the system has only shared his system with our company because he believes we are the only company in our specific business that does what’s right 100% of the time for people. In recent years, he’s been sharing this with religious churches that want to better relate with people.
It’s very easy to tell what a person’s dominate personality is. People in certain professions are drawn to those professions because of their personality. Where rules and proper protocol and edict are structured dominate. If they have compassion too, then they are SR. It works like that.
I knew there was some compelling reason you were posting about this…
Yes, I’m an expert at this and Ainge hugged a person who is. “T” and possibly an A. Lots of athletes are Action personalities. T’s are like coaches who figure out things and make up plays. The As carry them out. Hall’s reaction was like “T” who likes to be hugged by family only. Maybe close-close friends. Not alumni trying to get him to stay at BYU. That breads suspicion. Note that Hall is looking more towards Duke. Duke’s point guard is leaving Duke.
Note the suspicious response you gave. Just like I said, a “T” with lots of “S.” Teachers are mostly structured and rule oriented and therefore “S.” I know people don’t like being psychoanalized. But, this o e is on the house
Duke wasn’t even on Hall’s list until a few days ago and now I am hearing that Virginia is also on his list. He has gone from 8 to 10 schools he is considering. I think BYU is still one of them. Sounds like he may not be interested in coming back to BYU if he is still looking even with the new coach finalized. If he is looking for the best NIL deal that is not likely to come from BYU.
The portal and NIL are turning college sports into pro sports and it stinks!
Haven’t heard anything about Saunders visit at BBN either…we need to get assistants in the pipeline ASAP…
You are not alone. I’d like to see the Phoenix Suns lose to Timberwolves in a hurry so that coach Young can get on the ball.
Of course the loses may question Young’s offensive abilities to the young players. Maybe an NBA championship would bring other top players to BYU to replace the ungrateful. And, Saunders was picked up at the airport by Pope and his wife this morning. Kentucky may be his landing spot.
I hope you are more of an expert on this than Contract Law!! That was a brutal read a few days ago.
And, before you ask/question, I am an expert on contract law - having drafted and negotiated many contracts.
There are times a person’s life situation doesn’t allow them to put forth their personality. Kinda like not allowing Saunders being an energy bunny and Saunders then not being affective on the court. That’s what Floyd was actually relating. Not that the STAR method doesn’t work.
As I remember it from 30 years - I thought many of the questions were too obvious to put you into a category and the results were a bit on the horoscope / fortune cookie way of getting someone to think “wow, that is me!” BUT I did find it and the other “tests” to cause me to reflect on my personality and how I might better interact with people. So of some value.
I mentioned the woman who found herself with opposite personalities of Theory and Relationship. Theory people aren’t people persons unless family or with other theory technical people. When she took this class, she began crying because for the first time in her life someone explained why she was always so confused and conflicted with herself. She was from that point on able to deal with her wide swings of emotions.
Yeah it’s all kind of fun to talk about and play with, sort of like tarot cards or something…
The whole science aspect of it might help to understand some of the things we do and the behaviors we exhibit. Has it helped you figure out why you argue with people even when you agree with them on those rare occasions?
That would really be something worthwhile.
