Midterm Elections

I agree that Republicans didn’t spell out how they were going to stop the bad Biden economics. Trump was doing just that. So, maybe the Republicans should have got behind Trump.
Yes, Graham’s stupidity along with the Supreme Court taking the Dodd case got the young unmarried to come out and vote against fighting inflation to fight for abortion.

Let me be VERY CLEAR here… Trump is Radioactive to the GOP when it comes to gaining the independent voters…

They do not want Trump AT ALL, the new head of the GOP is Ron DeSantis, same ideas as Trump, but a hell of a lot less baggage.

I agree. I’d like to see DeSantis be the nominee for 2024. But, this was 2022 and Trump was the only one who was pushing how to solve the problems with the economy, gas prices, illegal immigration and crime. Instead, the Republican Party was just talking about the problems. So, Republican hatred towards Trump hurt them. The proof is no red wave and Democrats can and will continue to ruin the country.

The thing I fear is that Trump will go independent if the Republican Party dumps him. He still has a fairly large cult like following and I wonder if his hardcore followers would support DeSantis.

Exit polls indicated that 62% of voters want abortion to be a guaranteed right per federal law. I am not sure if people even really understand the Dobb’s decision. It didn’t outlaw abortion. It just allowed the states to decide to make their own laws concerning it. The pro abortion people misrepresent what the decision actually did. They also lie about the current Supreme Court wiping out a constitutional right. They also lie that judicial precedent is always upheld. It isn’t always upheld. Prior court rulings have been overturned, particularly when the reasoning behind them had no solid constitutional basis. Roe v Wade was not based on any right found in the constitution. It was invented by 7 judges. Too bad the decision didn’t happen until after the midterms. It was the right decision but it seems to have helped tip the scales.

very good point.

also most likely the reason for the red blunder.

I would like term limitations and a Florida type of vote recording system nationwide. Please

You are right Abortion isn’t a constitutional right. But, what the pro abortion crowd think is those in states that restrict abortions need protection since many are poor and can’t just go to a pro abortion state. So, they don’t care about states rights. Democrats actually wish states had no rights. Bad timing to have that court decision before the elections. And stupid statements from republican senator Graham.

Yes on both!

Here’s what bothers me with the current Republican party…
The “freedom Caucus” is threatening Speaker McCarthy (If the GOP wins the house) that they will not go along with his plans UNLESS they fully investigate Biden/Hunter Biden.

I understand that we need to have “good” hearings on them, but with the current state of the economy, people suffering because they have to choose between eating and paying heating oil bills. Gas is still up around 4.00 a gallon in most states and the Freedom Caucus main focus is on Biden?

All that is going to do is prove the Republicans are no better than the Democrats. For five years they hounded Trump. Looking pretty stupid while doing it.

I personally believe that many of these Trump candidates and supporters is what turned off the independents.

The people between the coastal states are tired of the cry baby Trump and his followers. They KNOW that the election was not stolen, although they believe there was some things that should not have been done right before the election.

Trump is a cancer for the GOP right now. The far right “Constitutional” and “Conservative” factions are turning people off. From the articles I have read, the majority of the voters wants the GOP to move more to the center. Where they can be fiscally sound, while still being able to help those that can’t help themselves through programs.

Sorry for the rant, but I honestly left the GOP party because of the far-right GOP idiots here in Utah. When they took over caucus meetings yelling and screaming to get rid of RINO like Senator Bennett and replace him with Mike Lee. Anyone who said they would consider all the candidates carefully and make what they believe a good choice got yelled at and voted out.

I believe you can stand up for the Constitution and have fiscal restraint, but I think there is a better way to handle it than what is currently in play in Congress and across the country.

You are believing the leftwing propaganda. The moderate and far right, whether Trump or non-Trump, voted the same in the election last Tuesday. They voted for Republicans. Independents voted more for the Republicans as well. More Blacks and Hispanics voted Republican than in 2020.m and 2018. So, why did the red wave not materialize?

The red wave did materialize in state and local elections in many blue states because of women with children and voting against wokeism. It did not materialize for Congressional candidates because of the great turnout of single women and women in general due to the Supreme Court’s decision on abortion and Graham’s statements on abortion. Also, LGBTQ for the same group brought out more voters for Democrats. These issues no longer had anything to do with Trump. DeSantis will also put conservatives in the courts as well.

The continued downward spiral of the country is still over social issues of LGBTQ and abortion. Not Trump. So, how can this change? Keep getting more and more conservatives on school boards who can effect the education of our children including colleges and universities. This is what the Liberals and leftists have done over the past 50 years. They have been tearing down the social fabric of families to where our young people try to live on their own and have babies on their own. When they do, the fathers of most is the government handing out money to the single parents. So, just like in big blue cities, these single parents of all ages believe Republicans won’t protect them with free money because they mostly listen to left wing media and university professors. This includes older single mothers as well. Tied to this are the other wedge issues are LGBTQ and abortion. Satan is manipulative and has woven these issues together to create this Democrat voting block of liberal young people of mostly single voters. They showed up big time again and that’s why Democrats are keeping the Senate and probably the House.

It’s a real balancing act trying to win independents and keep the base happy. George W. Bush was actually the last Republican presidential candidate to win the popular vote in 2004. He left office with low approval ratings because the economy tanked due in part to Dodd/Frank. He was pretty moderate and was still crucified by Democrats over the Iraq war. The same Democrats who are moving us closer to a much more serious war with Russia and possibly China.

I understand the attraction for some to Trump because he fights his political enemies and the press he just has no restraint when he needs it and has to go. No Republican will ever get the approval of the mainstream press or any cooperation from 95% of the Democrats
In congress if they stand for conservative principles.
I like DeSantis because he is unwavering, seems to be a good family man, and doesn’t engage in personal attacks.

DeSantis won’t win either unless the single women and men voting block finds out they are being manipulated by the leftists. See my post above. We are being manipulated into believing Trump is the problem. DeSantis is the problem. Conservatism is the problem. When the problem centers around the destruction of belief in God and the destruction of the family.

my answer to this? BS, that is your instant response when people have a different view.

Quess what? The Independents are NOT pro Trump or Non-Trump people, they are independent for a reason… They voted to keep the democrats in charge in the Senate and have a tight House majority for the GOP

That is not what they were saying about the “Red Wave” they were talking solely about the US congress, NOT State elections.

That is what I was trying to say, there are different ways to accomplish things… Trump and DeSantis are prime examples of accomplishing the same thing different ways.

Keep clueless Floyd. These concepts are above the ability for you to understand. I stand on what I presented. You’re response and solution isn’t going to change a thing for why Democrats won Congressional elections. Dig deeper and you will find that Democrats and independents who voted for Republicans in local and school boards still voted for the Congressional democrats. I shake my head with this as well. The destruction of the family has created a bigger welfare net witch that intertwines abortion and LGBTQ issues together. Until that can be broken, the young single voting block will be the decision makers.

Won’t make a difference to the decision maker single adults paid by their father government instead of their real parents. Why do you think Democrats are getting away with keeping parents out of the decisions on abortions and trans issues. You are treating a severed artery with a band aid.

That is always the quick answer from the Hopper. Pure BS. The Hopper will never understand just how much we dislike Narcists and their inability to understand others.
Absolutely, unequivocally, untrue that Indys voted Republican. They do NOT want anything to do with Trump, ever again. If ever there was a time to win big over socialism, it was this midterm and Trump candidates failed up and down the ticket. Soon, Trump will announce again and then call all of us losers because we don’t back him anymore.

Spot on. Hopper raises some valid points regarding general turn of many to liberal positions, BUT is failing to understand this election was lost because of Trump and his candidates. Not because republicans didn’t come out and supported Republicans - even the Trump candidates - but because independents can’t stand him.
Hopper, previously you stated it’s time to turn to Desantis. But then you state it’s not Trump’s fault and that it wouldn’t matter if it’s Trump or DeSantis. Those are inconsistent positions - It can’t be both.

There’s covid deniers, election deniers and especially now Trump deniers - (that he’s not the problem). Seems like you fall in that group regarding Trump. True?

I loved Trump policies, probably did more than any president since Reagan but when you have DeSantis ready and willing, why would anyone back Trump and all that Toxicity?

No rational person would. Trump would lose again to Joe Biden or a tree stump (not much difference). Desantis or anyone else would beat Joe or any other democrat I can think of. The real issues would come to the surface, not whether you like or despise Trump.
